CHRISTINA’S ON HIGH STREET
Christina’s on High Street is a new and exciting Cafe/Restaurant located in the historic main street of Willunga.
Approximately 45 minutes drive from Adelaide and located in the Southern Vales, Christina’s offers a relaxed atmosphere with excellent coffee and an ever changing menu designed to cater for everyone’s taste.
Originally the building, circa 1868, was a Primitive Methodist Church and served as a place of worship for the early settlers in the region. It closed in the 1890’s and was converted to a private dwelling.
It has been used for many things over the years but in 1979 was converted to a fine dining restaurant known as Vanessa’s. Vanessa’s was a well-known and popular dining establishment for over 20 years.
The original owner of Vanessa’s sold the business and premises in the late 1990’s and since that time the building has had a number of owners. In August 2007 Christina and Theo Kalogeropoulos purchased the property and carefully renovated and restored the premises.
The cafe now boasts new surroundings with new tables and chairs, stunning original floor boards, newly sealed and painted walls that are hung with Christina’s own family photos that are dated back to the early 20th century.
Christina has added a new split system air-conditioner inside to keep you cool on hot days or nice and warm on those wintery cold days. On a beautiful day there are also plenty of tables outside to enjoy the quiet lull of Willunga with friends and family.
